A Pakistani Artist Wants To Present This Portrait To President Obama

This portrait of the Obama family is taking Pakistan by storm.

Parvez Bhatti, Paints Obama's Family Portrait

Just like the popular photoblog Humans Of New York on Facebook, there is a page called Humans of Lyari (HoL), which highlights inspirational stories of the residents of Lyari – a densely populated neighborhood in the metropolitan city of Karachi, Pakistan.

HoL has helped draw attention to a lot of undiscovered talent in the town also known as mini-Pakistan. However, most recently, the story of painter Parvez Bhatti, who drew a beautiful portrait of the first family of the United States, has taken the country by storm.

“I loved painting ever since I was a child. It has been 40 years since I am working as a painter,” the page quoted the artist as saying. “I used to paint movie posters for cinemas and I also used to take orders for different art galleries.”

Bhatti added he hopes to present it to President Obama himself.

“This is one of my best paintings so far in which I have drawn family portrait of American president Obama. I really want to gift this painting to him,” he told HoL.

The response to Bhatti’s painting has been overwhelming, HoL stated in one of the comments on the original post.

Apart from being shared almost a thousand times in less than a day, the photo is being sent to Humans of New York, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in hopes that the White House will take notice of it.
