Priest Suspended For Riding A Hoverboard At Mass

The year's hottest Christmas toy isn't welcome in the house of God -- especially not at the sacred Christmas sermon.

Some people think the Catholic Church is way behind the times. But a Filipino priest swung much too far in the other direction in footage of him captured in church zooming down the aisle on a hoverboard.

The bizarre video posted to Facebook on Dec. 26 shows the priest at the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal in Binan Parish in the Philippines whizzing around on a hoverboard as he gave out his Christmas sermon during Mass and even sang a Christmas song for the religious devotees present.

Although attendees seemed pretty fascinated with the tech savvy priest, the local Manila diocese wasn’t too happy about the incident.

Church authorities suspended the unnamed priest and said in an online statement that his act was a violation of the “highest form of worship.”

“The priest said that it was a wakeup call for him; he acknowledged that his action was not right and promised that it will not happen again,” the diocese said on its Facebook page.

“He will be out of the parish and will spend some time to reflect on this past event. He would like to apologize for what happened.”

One can only hope that the suspension will teach the priest a lesson and help him get back into the groove soon enough.
