A gunman identified as Michael Gonzales aims his pistol at local village politician Reynaldo Dagsa while he was taking this picture of his family. Dagsa was assassinated by the gunman in Manila on New Year’s Eve 2011.

The photo shows Tyler Hadley, a Florida teen at the party that he threw for his friends after he killed his parents. Freakishly, bodies were hidden in the bedroom at the time of the party. He was later arrested and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

A photo of Tara Calico, a girl who was went missing in September 1988 in New Mexico, was found from a supermarket parking lot in June 1989. The boy in the photo was identified as Michael Henley, also of New Mexico, who had disappeared in April 1988. She is presumed dead but her body was never found.

A Haunting Moment In History

Omayra Sanchez

The most disturbing picture perhaps is this one. It shows 13-year-old Omayra Sanchez pinned down by house debris caused by a volcano disruption in Colombia in 1985. Rescue workers failed to save her despite a 60-hour struggle to dislodge Omayra from a neck-deep pool of cold, muddy water. She later died of exposure.
