Polar Bear Causes Zoo Fright

Visitors to a zoo in the Netherlands have been caught by surprise by a polar bear.

The polar bear at Rotterdam Zoo used a large rock to smash the glass of its enclosure.

Tourists were admiring the polar bear through the pane of glass at the time.

Luckily the glass did not completely shatter.

Zoo staff say 'Vicks' is well known for playing with rocks and they believe it was simply an accident that occured while Vicks was playing, rather then a bid for freedom.

The polar bear has been relocated to a new pen while the glass is repaired.
