A lucky Redditor captured a beautiful picture of a rainbow connecting with the ground. It seems rainbows do, in fact, end, and are as beautiful as one could ever hope for!
Everyone knows the myths about leprechauns hiding their pots of gold at the end of rainbows. I personally believed until now - thanks to my ninth-grade science education - that rainbows didn’t actually have ends based on…light and…stuff.
On closer inspection, it seems the rain had just ended, and the sky above the highway has just become clear. This combination of wet pavement, sunlight, and childhood dreams combined to make the magnificent rainbow tail we see here.
I can only imagine that the Redditor took the gold before he took the picture. I wonder how tax filings for “found leprechaun gold” work? Pretty ballsy for those leprechauns to place gold in the middle of a highway to begin with. I know salvia grows on freeways, and that has already gotten like 100 people killed; I can only imagine the carnage after pots of gold are seen on the interstate.
Someone with more science knowledge than me, let us know how this happened. Furthermore, if it does happen, why is so rare?
Also, kind of a bummer for the car just past the rainbow. Can you imagine being stuck in a mini-van, only to have a magical ending rainbow break out behind you? Maybe that car drove through it. That would be cool. I would like to drive through a rainbow someday.
I think we all would like to drive through a rainbow someday.
