It has been 20 years since Forrest Gump came out in 1994 and became a phenomenon. It claimed six Academy Awards and even beat Pulp Fiction and Shawshank Redemption at the Oscars – which was a bit excessive – but we still loved every bit of it.
Twenty years later (can you believe it has been that long?) it finally got the Honest Trailer treatment from the movie nerds over at YouTube channel Screen Junkies. So they did what they do best: show us a side of the film we never noticed.

The Screen Junkies refuse to take Forrest Gump at face value and see it for what it really is: a dark tale full of twisted characters. So get ready for the merciless slaughter of your favorite film.
The Junkies poke fun at Forrest’s one-sided relationship with his love interest ‘Jen-nay’ which – according to them – serves "as CliffsNotes to 40 years of white-washed American history." Not to forget Lt. Dan with legs, without legs, things his momma said and lots and lots of running.
While the video is funny and sarcastic, some people over the internet are missing the point. Although Screen Junkies pitilessly poke fun at the classic, it is satire at its best. They’re not berating the film for its poor quality, it’s all good fun. Stop beating a dead horse, Internet.
And that's all we have to say about that.
