Just when you thought the online self-portrait culture couldn’t get any crazier, someone on Facebook created a page called “Sellotape Selfie”.

Just when you thought the online self-portrait culture couldn’t get any crazier, someone on Facebook created a page called “Sellotape Selfie”.

In the month of February, daredevils climbed on skyscrapers and ran in front of angry bulls to take the most dangerous selfies. Later, “The Reverse Duck Face” took over the internet followed by #DaveCalls selfies, mocking British Prime Minister David Cameron’s photo of himself on the phone with U.S. President Barack Obama.

And now, people are making themselves barely recognizable by wrapping their faces with sticky tape.

The end product, as in the temporarily disfigured face, looks positively wacky. Also, it looks a bit painful because the tight wrapping could potentially harm the sensitive areas including eyes and eyebrows.

Despite the weirdness of the trend, the “Sello Selfies” have taken the internet by storm. The page was created on Wednesday and there are more than 112,700 likes already along with thousands of images of people with their faces covered with tape.
