A video of a Singaporean woman berating a deaf and mute cleaner has gone viral.
The incident occurred at a food court in a Jurong shopping mall after the employee tried to clear her tray before she had finished eating.
The woman, identified as Feng, launched a rant at the disabled man’s manager, who apologized to her on the employee’s behalf.
The tirade was filmed by another customer named Euphemia Lee, who posted the video on Facebook and wrote: “The cleaner misunderstood her grunting when he asked if he could clear her tray for affirmation. She abruptly exploded into cursing and violent upper body actions. She then told him that he should go and die and should not be given a coffin.”
“In a nutshell, her saying that old and disabled people should not be given employment nor forgiven for their mistakes. And that they should just be beggars and wait for the government to feed them,” Lee added.
After the shocking footage went viral, it emerged the worker cleaner who was berated was planning to quit his job this month. The Strait Times states when reporters asked him in writing if he was quitting, “he pointed to the response ‘yes’.”
Meanwhile, the woman also apologized for her comments after being criticized online. However, she said she was not entirely to blame for the incident since the worker was not wearing a tag "so customers know that he is deaf and mute."
"I'm not a bad or evil person," she added.
