South African News Reporter Mugged On Camera During Live Coverage

The foolish thieves got some real camera time on national television.

A television news reporter and his crew were robbed at gunpoint on the streets of Johannesburg just moments before they had to go live on national television. The muggers stole their phones, wallets and laptops, but failed to notice one simple thing: The cameras were rolling.

Vuyo Mvoko, contributing editor for South African Broadcasting Corporation,  was about to deliver his live report on the arrival of Zambian President Edgar Lungu at Milpark hospital when the muggers struck.

Apparently, the news crew was waiting for the studio to introduce their live segment when the thieves approached them. Cameras recorded the whole scene, but it wasn't aired. However, the studio uploaded the footage on the Internet and it quickly went viral. The faces of both the suspects are seen in the video.
