Student Recites Lord’s Prayer During Graduation Speech
A high-school valedictorian has received mostly positive response after he interrupted his own graduation speech to recite the Lord’s Prayer.
Liberty High, where the speech was given, bans Religious terminology at school functions and meetings. The student was required to submit his speech for review before giving it, so it seems his prayer did not make the written draft.
The speaker receives support from the audience, but the teachers behind him seemed less supportive.
The young man’s words are protected as freedom of speech, and it is unlikely the school will take action against him considering he’s graduated.
