Meet E.T, the talented walrus. He was rescued from the Arctic tundra in 1982 and became one of the most beloved creatures at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington. Decades after living in the care of the zoo, E.T changed in so many incredible ways. He picked up impressive tricks that amuse his trainers and delight the public. E.T. can lift his flippers in greeting, stick out his tongue and nod yes or shake his head no in answer to questions.

Not only that, this video shows us that the talented walrus also has a repertoire of sounds he makes on command – eight, in fact. He can talk, sputter, whistle, grumble, roar, speak, growl and make a bell noise.

E.T is one of the most popular animals at the zoo, and children in the city know him by name.
