Two teenagers were critically injured when they accidentally slammed into a building in a parasailing accident in Panama Beach, Florida. Bad weather is being blamed for the parasailing accident as a storm grew increasingly strong while the girls were flying. Strong winds carried the teenage girls along and ran them into a building where they eventually landed in a parking lot.
Investigators reported that several attempts were made to get the girls back onto the vessel but ultimately failed. The company which the girls were parasailing through was called Aquatic Adventures. The company is now coming under scrutiny due to the fact that they were actually one of the main opponents to a law which failed to pass this past May. The law would have enforced stricter safety regulations for parasailing to avoid accidents.
Many are asking if parasailing is too dangerous and if they should avoid doing this popular summer activity at all. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservative Commission 33 people have been injured in a parasailing accident since 1998 with 6 fatalities. The girls are being treated at a nearby hospital; there is no word on their current condition.
Most people still do dangerous activities in spite of the fact that they could get injured, we’re sure it won’t stop people from going. Will you go parasailing this summer?
