The human-animal bond sometimes defies any explanation.

Mario, a 54-year-old volunteer who had worked with the Rotterdam Zoo in the Netherlands for years, is suffering from terminal cancer. His last wish was to say goodbye to the animals he had cared for.

Thanks to a Dutch organization called the Ambulance Wish Foundation, his wish came true. He got a chance to spend some time with his beloved friends, and from the looks of it, they understood what he was going through and said goodbye.
