Watch the slowest police escort in history. Washington State Troopers received odd calls on Tuesday when drivers and residents spotted an elderly woman riding along State Route 546, near the U.S. – Canadian border.

According to Komo News, the woman had gone out for coffee in Lynden Tuesday afternoon, but got lost while trying to get home. When Hintz caught up with her, she was nearly four miles from her house and continuing to head in the wrong direction.

One bystander snapped this video of what appeared to be an extremely-slow-speed pursuit.

Turns out, the trooper was just trying to help the woman find her way home. "I wasn't trying to stop her. I wasn't trying to detain her. I was just trying to get her back to her home," said Trooper Dave Hintz with the Washington State Patrol. "I just treated her the way I would've wanted somebody to treat my mom."

And so he gave her an escort – at 6mph. This state trooper should definitely be applauded for his service, and his patience.
