It seems a stray cat was looking for some airtime when it surprised a reporter during a live broadcast in the US.

Reporter Nicole DiDonato from Michigan was live outside a microbrewery when a curious cat decided to interrupt her broadcast.

Ms DiDonato was outlining the day's events at the brewery when the friendly feline snuck up behind her and jumped onto her shoulder.

The cat refused to budge and the reporter did her best to finish her live cross, although she is reported to have broken into fits of laughter shortly afterwards.

'Learned my lesson: never make eye contact with a cat before a live teaser again,' she later wrote on Twitter.
