The Twitter conversation has now been removed and Nielsen got suspended for an uncertain amount of time. He has a meeting with the school principal Aurelia Curtis on Tuesday.

According to Erik Nielsen, school employees have no right whatsoever to review any personal social media accounts of the students.

A movement on Twitter #TweetForErik has started in solidarity with Nielsen initiated by his classmates. One student is even selling bootleg #tweetforerik hoodies for $3.
