We shouldn’t underestimate the power of a Kevlar helmet. Ever.

This bloodcurdling video shows the moment when a U.S. Marine fighting in Afghanistan received a direct headshot from a Taliban sniper.

As scary as that might sound and appear, the soldier was, fortunately, saved by the most unlikely hero imaginable – a Kevlar combat helmet.

Although the video was uploaded last month by Afghanistan war veteran Sam Arnold, it has just started to get media attention.

According to Arnold:

“A Taliban sniper managed to get a non-fatal headshot on a Marine's helmet while the Marines were conducting a joint helicopter raid in the Now Zad district, Helmand Province in 2013.”

The shot occurs right at the 00:45 mark in the video.
