An unidentified woman was caught on surveillance camera at a Florida funeral home stealing a ring off the finger of a dead woman's body and fleeing the scene.

Surveillance footage captured a woman stealing a ring from a corpse’s finger that was on display at a Texas mortuary last week.

In the video, the unidentified woman appears to be twisting the finger of 88-year-old Lois Hicks whose casket was open at the Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Odessa, according to the Huffington Post.

“I can’t believe someone would be that low,” Hicks’ daughter Vel McKee reportedly said. “It makes me sick to my stomach. Horrible. I hope they catch her.” McKee had left her late mother’s side only 15 minutes before the corpse was violated.

The woman from the footage — who reportedly tore part of Hicks’ skin during the robbery — is not even someone known to the family, just a creepy lady who apparently scams the dead for jewelry.

The local police posted the video on its Facebook page and described the culprit as a “heavy set white female wearing a brown long sleeve sweater, black sweat pants and black sandals” in hopes that the public could assist in locating her.

The irony in all of this is that according to ABC News, the ring was plastic and only worth about $10 but authorities are proceeding with treating the theft as an alleged felony.

In addition to being publicly recognized as the worst human being possible for stealing from the dead, once she is caught, the thief will be heading to jail over a measly 10 bucks.
