The Miami Herald reported that 22-year-old Mila Dago text messaged her boyfriend "Driving drunk woo" and "I'll be dead thanks to you" minutes before an accident.
Dago survived the Smart Car collision, but her friend and passenger Irina Reinoso did not.
Reinoso was reportedly a student at Miami-Dade College and dreamed of working in law enforcement. Reinoso's brother told CBS4:
"She was beautiful. She will be missed. She was a free spirit. She had a wonderful laugh.
Blood tests revealed that Dago's blood alcoholic level was .178, more than twice the legal limit. The test was administered over two hours after the crash.
Dago has pleaded not guilty to DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and two counts of DUI with damage to a person.
Please don't text and drive. It can be fatal! http://t.co/Y5yb6bLVm4— Lighthouse Law (@1300lawgroup) May 2, 2015
