A wild deer made a strange appearance on a busy city center shopping street on Sunday and managed to hurt a woman enough to send her to hospital, in the process.
The 24-year-old woman with facial injuries was immediately taken to the hospital after she was hit by the 4ft tall wild creature on Chelmsford High Street, Essex. The woman was given first aid for a "minor head injury" and later discharged.
Joanna Tyzack, 22, from Chelmsford, said: 'I came out of Superdrug and saw a deer out of the corner of my eye. The next thing I saw was it running off down the high street and a young woman lying on the floor in a pool of blood. She looked in quite a lot of pain.'
Mick McDonagh, manager of the High Chelmer shopping centre, said: "It tried to leap over a young lady and unfortunately hit her. It's certainly not something you expect to see."
Shoppers were shocked to see the creature dashing through the busy area, where it was caught on CCTV. The animal was later spotted by drivers near junction 18 of the A12 heading towards Colchester.
The deer hasn’t been spotted again after dashing through the city center on Sunday.
