A lot of fearless women on Instagram are sharing pictures of themselves with only half their faces covered in makeup, with the hashtag #ThePowerOfMakeup and a personal message.
The idea behind the trend is to highlight how a little foundation, eyeliner and lipstick can transform your features and that wearing makeup is not something to be ashamed of.
Unlike what all makeup shamers believe, women do not wear makeup to cover their insecurities or because they feel uncomfortable in their own skin. They do it because it’s creative and fun, and let’s face it, sometimes we all feel the need to doll up and look pretty for ourselves.
This trend started with a video by popular beauty blogger, known as NikkieTutorials, where she covered half of her face with makeup while leaving other half completely bare. She created “The Power of Makeup” clip after she heard some women were “almost ashamed to say they love makeup” and she felt people were being shamed for wearing cosmetics.
Since then, a lot of women have been inspired to share their love for makeup by posting photos of their own half made-up faces. Check out some of the gorgeous transformations below:
I find this acceptance movement to be #amazing. #Love yourself no matter what others say. If #makeup makes you feel good wear it. Do what makes you #happy. #makeupshaming #beautyisbeautiful #acceptance #urbandecay #curlyhair #loveyourself #thepowerofmakeup #thepowerofmakeupandhair #redefineperfect #redefinebeauty #happinessisbeautiful
Make up is beautiful. But underneath all that? That's where our true beauty lies. I believe we should all be judged based on our character and not the way we look. I mean, you're bombarded with messages everyday about how to contour this and how to get the perfect brow shape that... and you know what? At the end of the day we screenshot all these beautiful make up looks that we want to re-create - but shouldn't there be more? I have 26,000 followers...besides just inspiring someone to look better… I want to inspire people to feel better - to be better and just love themselves with every fiber of their own being. So this post is dedicated to my BAD BITCHES out there - YOU GO GIRL!!! 😂 (I was getting too emotional)
