Footage (seen above) has since been released, detailing the terrifying experience from within the cabin itself. One passenger recorded the entire event, from the crash, to the leap into the water from the plane.

Taking place off of the coast of Hawaii, the crash resulted in only one fatality, Hawaii state health director, Loretta Fuddy, 65.

The surviving passengers were eventually rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard. Authorities say the cause of the crash was likely engine failure. Passengers praised the pilot, Clyde Kawasaki, for his composure and leadership during the incident.

"The way how he handled the flight and everything, he kept his calm, it's just amazing how he did it," passenger Ferdinand Puentes said of Kawasaki in an interview with ABC News. "He is my hero."
