In case you did not get the message the first time around, here is another reminder about the dangers of texting and walking at the same time.

A businesswoman slipped and fell over in the background of a live TV broadcast because she was using her phone as she strolled.

On the video the woman can be seen walking wearing a black jacket with a bag over her shoulder as she crosses a square outside an office block - with her eyes down on her phone.

She does not notice the three steps beneath her and falls to the ground, ending up lying on her side on the floor.

Members of the public rushed to help her but she did not his her head and sat up straight away looking dazed.

The entire incident was captured by Canadian TV station CBC which was at the time doing a report from outside the building in Ontario on government austerity plans.

The footage, which has been watched more than 15,000 times on YouTube, recalled the film that emerged last year showing a woman falling into a Pennsylvania shopping mall fountain whilst texting and walking.

A CCTV camera showed that she was so distracted she hit the barrier at the edge of the water and went in head first, getting completely drenched.

Accidents involving people texting and walking have become so common that researchers have started looking into the problem.

A study released last month by scientists at Stony Brook University in New York found that the practice changes your gait in such as a way that you are more likely to fall over.

They found that your brain may not be absorbing enough information even if you keep glancing up and that you won’t be able to judge steps or slopes so well.

Lawmakers in New York have proposed banning texting and walking, though the proposed law has not won widespread support.
