Stop asking, “Who voted for Donald Trump?” because the answer, unfortunately, is glaringly obvious: Americans voted for him.
It’s time to accept the reality: President Donald J. Trump is possible only because a certain segment of the American population voted for him.
There’s no other logical explanation for the outcome, which may be unprecedented but is certainly not surprising.
The Wall Street Journal reported four in 10 voters said they wanted the next commander-in-chief to bring “needed change.”
The argument sounds reasonable. Grievances over issues like trade, health care and education are completely understandable. What’s not understandable, however, is the need to pick an underqualified, former reality television star and notorious womanizer with zero political experience to solve those grievances.
The man doesn’t have a plan, not even an outline of a plan, as has been made crystal clear by his nonsensical and irrelevant answers to moderators’ questions during various presidential debates. The only thing he seems to be sure of is the length of his hands.
On top of that, he lies — pretty much all the time.
Trump won 276 electoral votes while his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton clinched 218.
Here’s how it happened: Whites made up nearly 70 percent of voters and 58 percent of all whites voted for Trump. Clinton, however, did well the black vote, won 88 percent compared to just 8 percent for Trump.
Furthermore, according to CBS’ exit poll:
“Trump did best among white voters without a college degree, beating Clinton by the enormous margin of 72 percent to 23 percent. Trump also won among white, non-college women 62 to 34 percent and white college-educated men, 54 to 39 percent. Among white voters, Clinton only won among women with a college degree by a 51 to 45 percent margin.”
So, as you can see, it’s not just a victory — it’s a decisive victory, thanks to American voters who handed it to him.
These voters, therefore, should be reminded — yet again — who they have elected to run the highest office in the country. He is a man who is accused of committing sexual assault by at least 12 women and is also accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. He is a man who avoided paying taxes for over 18 years, lied about it and then shamelessly bragged about not paying them. He allegedly committed various acts of fraud in the name of charity and education. He wouldn’t mind sending Americans to the Guantanamo Bay detention center. He made fun of women, berated and belittled them, offended nearly all non-white, non-Catholic minority communities in the U.S., has no tolerance for free speech and doesn’t believe in climate change.
And yes, he is going to be the 45th president of the United States.
What have you done America?
