Conor McGregor Loses to Undefeated 'Money' Mayweather In MegaFight

Boxing’s billion dollar fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conan McGregor ended in a fascinating match.

Floyd Mayweather beat Conor McGregor in Las Vegas Saturday night, to claim his 50th victory. With this win under his belt, Mayweather maintains his unbeaten record.

The outcome isn't much of a surprise — the fact that the fight went on for so long was to many.

Newbie McGregor was written off before the fight, but the Irishman surprised many of his critics with a largely professional display, taking the fight to 10 rounds.

In the 10th round of the surprisingly competitive fight, Mayweather backed McGregor onto the ropes with a series of rights and lefts, leaving McGregor bloodied. He was about to fall through the ropes when the referee stepped in to stop the fight with 1:55 remaining in the round.

“I gave the fans what they wanted to see,” Mayweather said after the fight. “I told them that I owed them for the Pacquiao fight. I must come straight ahead and give them a show.”

All three judges had Mayweather ahead of McGregor when the fight was stopped in the 10th round: The scores at that stage were 87-83, 89-82 and 89-81.

“He’s a lot better than I thought he was, but I was the better man,” Mayweather said.

Celebrity fight fans from around the globe weighed in on Twitter with their thoughts on the contest, with both the McGregor and Mayweather sides equally represented.

This is how the sports world, celebrities and people reacted on Twitter to Floyd Mayweather's TKO win over Conor McGregor in the richest fight in combat sports history.

This may yet be the richest fight ever, surpassing the reported $620 million earned by Mayweather's win over Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
