5 Weird DIY Beauty Tricks That Actually Work

These five DIY beauty tricks may be gross and kind of weird, but you'll be amazed by how well they work. Grab some mayo and Vagisil and dive in.

While weird beauty tips have long been a thing, the increasing reach of social media has made access to them even easier.

Maybe it's the desire to make your tip go viral or see 15 minutes of fame — whatever the reason, though, beauty advice seems to be getting weirder by the day.

We’ve seen crazy stuff, like how to contour with kitchen knives, using Elmer’s Glue to remove blackheads, and DIY face masks made from diaper rash cream. But you know what? These crazy hacks actually work.

It's time to embrace the weird. Check out these five offbeat beauty remedies. You may be surprised by the results.

After you wash and shampoo your hair, spritz the mouthwash on your scalp. Allow the breath freshener to sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out with water.

2. Pepto-Bismol clears up acne.

Need something to zap that zit that just popped up out of nowhere? Smear some Pepto-Bismol all over your face and let it dry like you would a regular face mask. Thanks to its main ingredient, salicylic acid, which is in a lot of acne-fighting products, the pink liquid that treats diarrhea, heartburn, and upset stomach, is also great for reducing pimples.

3. Vagisil is a great makeup primer.

OK, so applying this cream to your face might be a little hard to swallow (so to speak, of course), but bear with us because it really works. Not only does the gel moisturize your skin, it also absorbs well, providing a soft, smooth surface for your makeup to adhere to.

4. Mayonnaise will give you super-shiny hair.

When you use mayo like a hair mask, it works just as well, if not better than many conditioners you find in the drugstore. After you shampoo, apply mayo to your locks, focusing on the ends. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes and shampoo to rinse all the residue out. The oil in the mayonnaise is what helps hydrate and smooth your strands.

5. Turmeric is great for teeth whitening.

Combine a tablespoon of coconut oil with a bit of turmeric to create a paste, brush it on your teeth for five minutes, and rinse immediately. If you do this a few times a week, you'll notice a whiter, brighter smile. The turmeric aids in the removal of plaque, which causes the discoloration to your teeth.

Well, there you have it. Which one are you going to try first? Tell us the weirdest beauty tips you've heard in the comments below.
