Just days after FBI Director James Comey confirmed his agency had launched a criminal investigation into any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, CNN reports intelligence officials have info that could prove the POTUS’ associates worked with Russians to harm Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
“The FBI has information that indicates associates of President Donald Trump communicated with suspected Russian operatives to possibly coordinate the release of information damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign,” U.S. officials told CNN.
One official suggested "people connected to the campaign were in contact and it appeared they were giving the thumbs up to release information when it was ready." However, other official sources who spoke to CNN said it was too early to infer that “from the information gathered so far since it's largely circumstantial.”
CNN reported "The FBI cannot yet prove that collusion took place, but the information suggesting collusion is now a large focus of the investigation, the officials said.”
The White House hasn’t commented on the CNN report so far. However, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said this week, of Comey’s confirmation of an FBI investigation into Trump campaign, people are continuing to “look for something that doesn’t exist” and that “investigating it and having proof of it are two separate things.”
