It’s only natural for athletes to succumb to pressure and get furious at times, but tennis player Coco Vandeweghe seems to have made this more of a habit, which does not look good on her part considering sports personalities are at least expected to show discipline.
The video posted above shows Vandeweghe throwing a temper after being unable to defeat her French opponent Pauline Parmentier in the second round at the Australian Open.
And who had to bear the brunt of her frustration? Her tennis racket – that was performing pretty well in the first round.
The New Yorker won the first set with a total of 6-4, having beating her opponent once. Vandeweghe and was looking forward to another win but suffered a loss instead. In an attempt to regain her cool, she actually lost all of it. Not pleased with her performance, she slammed her racket on the ground three times before finally tossing it at the crowd.
Although, the tennis player eventually took over the second set with the eventual tiebreak 7-5, making her way to the third round, she still lost the match and the trophy.
Vandeweghe suffered a similar breakdown last year at the U.S Open after missing out an opportunity to face Serena Williams. Recently, she threw a tantrum in Perth while competing in the final of the Hopman Cup against Czech Kristina Mladenovic.
After winning the first set, she was taken a back before reaching her break point in the fourth game of the second set.
Whatever the case might be, such attitude might cost the tennis player both her repute and the fans.
