In 1992, when Donald Trump was a naïve young man of just 46 years, he made a lewd joke about a 10-year-old he saw at the Trump Tower.
“I am going to be dating her in 10 years. Can you believe it?” the GOP nominee remarked after asking the child, who was off camera, if she was going up an elevator.
The comments, caught on camera, surfaced after more than two decades at a time when the media mogul was facing a barrage of sexual assault and harassment allegations. Since the release of an “Access Hollywood” audio tape where Trump bragged about grabbing and molesting women because he is a star, several women have come forward to accuse the White House hopeful of attacking them.
On Monday, in a bid to improve his public image while simultaneously pandering to African-American voters, the Republican candidate pointed at a young black girl during his rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and invited her up on the stage.
“By the way, that is the most beautiful little girl,” the Republican nominee said, pointing at a child in the crowd. “You wanna come up and see me?”
He then asked her about her parents, and when the child points them out, Trump congratulates them for producing such a “beautiful person.”
Keeping Trump’s previous (pedophilic?) comments in mind, the sight of him holding a little girl, calling her beautiful multiple times and then kissing her on the check was already rather off putting. However, the scene got truly disturbing when the former reality TV star leaned in for a second time and tried to kiss the girl, who clearly did not want to be there any more, seemingly on the mouth.
Thankfully, she put her arm up to push him away just in time.
Twitter had a lot of feelings about this awkward exchange:
I'd like a word or 2 w/ that little girl's parents who put her in Trump's arms to be used as a prop, knowing he's accused of sexual assault.— April ???? (@ReignOfApril) October 18, 2016
Given what we know about Trump, I don't find the gif of the little girl pulling away from his kiss funny. Like, at all.— Jessica Valenti (@JessicaValenti) October 18, 2016
I'll admit, I wasn't ready to see Trump trying to kiss a little black girl on the mouth. Who the hell does that to someone else's child?— Jamil Smith (@JamilSmith) October 18, 2016
Just saw the gif of Trump trying to kiss the little Black girl and I had a visceral reaction and I feel sick to my stomach now— I Will Block Ya Mama (@FeministaJones) October 18, 2016
This is extremely painful to watch. That poor girl was so uncomfortable. Trump is a disgusting, perverted man. https://t.co/fZjiW8pxNg— Izzy Galvez (@iglvzx) October 18, 2016
So amidst all the allegations, Trump is going to just force a kiss on a defenseless little girl right in front of us & call it a night?— CoachVon (@VonDecarlo) October 18, 2016
