Just three months before the presidential elections in the United States, Donald Trump has landed himself in hot waters with the Muslim parents of a U.S. soldier who was killed in the line of duty.
Speaking of the White House hopeful, French President François Hollande described Trump as “sickening.”
“His excesses make you want to retch, even in the United States, especially when — as in the case with Donald Trump — he speaks ill of a soldier, of the memory of a soldier,” Hollande told journalists in Paris.
He additionally criticized Trump’s “hurtful and humiliating comments” and then clarified that politicians should be respected when they are actually respectable.
Hollande went on to talk about how the U.S. elections impact the world overall, and called it a “world election.”
"If the Americans choose Trump, that will have consequences because an American election is a world election."
“Democracy is also at stake, as we see more and more people tempted by authoritarianism,” he added.
It seems like Donald Trump who hates Mexicans, Muslims, women, minority groups and now even babies, also has a number of people who hate him in return. While he wants to build a wall around America, and “Make America Great Again,” he himself remains extremely unaware of what being president of the United States could actually mean.
It is about time Trump realized that running a country like the U.S. is no joke, and that making politically incorrect statements or blocking out the rest of the world is not what is expected of a presidential candidate.
