The stars will align eventually for some people, just like they did for a Michigan woman who got lucky and won the lotto after a future of homelessness stared her in the face.
Shawna Donnelly was barely getting by while taking care of her mother full time and struggling to pay the bills. Then, she won $25,000 a year for life in a Michigan Lottery game, according to Action News Jax.
The 50-year-old said she got a feeling when she woke up in the middle of the night and decided to check her tickets.
Amazing things come for you when you least expect them.
“When I saw I matched five numbers, I must have refreshed my phone 100 times to make sure I really won,” Donnelly said in an interview with WDIV.
In a similar instance, Mohammad Basheer Abdul Khadar is living proof that what is for you is for you alone. He was on board an Emirates flight in Dubai when the plane skidded on the runway and burst into flames. Before the crash, Khadar purchased a lottery ticket and later found out that he won $1 million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire drawing. He thanked God for watching over him during the tragic crash that claimed the life of a firefighter. If he wasn’t given a second chance at life, he wouldn’t have lived to enjoy his lotto winnings.
Donnelly could’ve refreshed her phone a thousand times, and she still would’ve been the winner of the Lucky For Life game. Instead of taking annual payments, she opted for the one-lump sum of $390,000. When asked what she’ll to with her prize, she told WDIV that she intends to buy a new house and car, and then save what’s left of her winnings.
