Eddie Prosser of Jackson, Mississippi, is apparently done with seeing unattended potholes around the city, and he decided to do something about it at last.
Prosser came up with a rather out-of-the-box idea to throw a birthday party for a pothole, complete with a birthday card and festive balloon.
The card read “Happy Birthday, Pothole!” To make his message clearer, Prosser also added “I’ve been here for over a year.”
The picture of the little birthday festivity was sent to WJTV by a user.
The pothole is right in the middle of the road in a residential area and often makes it difficult for people to move around in the street without having to maneuver through tight spaces.
“I do find our problems in the city of Jackson serious but at the same time just one small pothole. When they fix the potholes just a block away it wouldn’t of taken another 10 minutes,” said Prosser.
After local news outlets covered the pothole and its birthday party, city officials had it fixed. Prosser hopes that the other potholes will soon be filled in too and the area paved.
Hopefully no other Jackson potholes will get to celebrate their birthdays, but if they do, Prosser is probably in good company of citizens who will take things into their own hands and demand action from city authorities.
