There’s something deeply satisfying about this video that features a woman scolding (a rather emotionless) Mitch McConnell.
After all, it has been nearly a month since President Donald Trump, immediately after taking office, started the process of repealing Obamacare and has not since provided even a rough plan of what kind of program might replace it.
In addition, despite his repeated promises to “bring jobs back to America,” nothing substantial has been done so far.
The entire Republican Party, in fact, has been shamelessly mum so far, and it’s understandably getting a little frustrating for voters.
This frustration was (rightfully) expressed in front of McConnell this week at the Lawrenceburg Chamber of Commerce in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, after an angry constituent berated the Senate majority leader over the Trump administration’s incompetence.
“The last I heard, these coal jobs are not coming back and now these people don’t have the insurance they need because they’re poor,” the woman yelled. “And they work those coal mines, and they’re sick, the veterans are sick, the veterans are broken down, they’re not getting what they need.”
But that wasn’t it. She ended her question by hitting McConnell with a jab about the time when he stopped fellow Sen. Elizabeth Warren from reading a letter by Coretta Scott King during Sen. Jeff Sessions’ confirmation hearing.
“If you can answer any of that, I’ll sit down and shut up, like Elizabeth Warren,” the woman added.
After she stopped talking, he finally said: “I hope you feel better now.”
“I do,” she replied. “I do.”
And then, McConnell being McConnell declined to answer her question.
Despite that, it was indeed a satisfying sight to see McConnell trying to maintain a poker face while someone told him how incredibly embarrassing the Republican Party’s reaction to Trump’s antics has been so far.
You can watch the entire exchange in the video above.
