Stephen Colbert And John Oliver Really Want Trump To Speak To Mueller

Trump is “going to have to eat his way through their [lawyers’] hands over his mouth,” John Oliver told Stephen Colbert.

President Donald Trump is keenly “looking forward” to the meeting with special counsel Robert Mueller regarding the ongoing investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. In fact, he is “absolutely” ready to be investigated “under an oath.” However, the “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver believes that before the much anticipated meeting, POTUS will have to go through his lawyers first.

Oliver’s comment came after one of Trump’s White House lawyers took back Trump’s passionate vow, claiming the president only meant he was “willing to meet” Mueller.

It is no surprise why Trump’s lawyers do not want to take a risk – almost everyone is familiar with the President’s tendency of shooting his mouth off and saying something incriminating.

Oliver, who is returning to the TV screens after three months with the fifth season of his show, made an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s Daily Show on Wednesday. Perhaps, Oliver wanted to get himself updated on everything he missed during his three months absence – Colbert was definitely a good choice as “The Late Show” host had a lot to tell.

When Colbert discussed the recent developments in the Trump-Russia ties probe, Oliver light heartedly said, “I don’t doubt that he wants to talk, but he’s going to have to physically get through his lawyers. He’s going to have to eat his way through their hands over his mouth, because they will tackle him to the floor before he opens his mouth.”

“He would perjure himself before he’d finished his name,” Oliver added.

Colbert did not miss the opportunity; immediately looking into the camera he responded, “I think he should do it.”

Continuing the amusing conversation, Oliver said, “If I can just cosign on that, I know I joke around a lot, Mr. President, but I also think you would do an excellent job. And I too think you should do it.”

“Do it,” asserting his point, Oliver repeated twice.

People were happy to see the two late show hosts together in a show. Here’s how they reacted.
