A young Texas woman learned the hard way why alcohol, Snapchat, and driving don’t mix.
Miranda Kay Rader, 19, was arrested in Bryan, Texas for driving while intoxicated after she crashed into a parked police car as she was trying to send a Snapchat, TIME reports.
A police report revealed that the Texas A&M University student may have been trying to send a topless selfie to her boyfriend at the time of the incident. Luckily, there were no injuries as a result of the crash.
“The white female driver with an unclasped brassiere was attempting to put a black blouse on,” the officer whose car she hit wrote in his report. “I also observed an open, green-tinted glass bottle of wine in the center console cupholder. I [asked] her why she was not dressed while driving and she stated that she was taking a Snapchat photo to send to her boyfriend while she was at the red light.”
She was eventually released from custody on a $2,000 bond, but not before making national headlines for her thoughtless and reckless actions.
Rader was doomed from all angles. She managed to break nearly every driving rule in the book all at the same time.
She was driving under the influence, she had an open alcoholic beverage container in the car, she was using her phone, and she was undressing – all while operating a motor vehicle. Something terrible was bound to happen.
She’s extremely lucky that she didn’t cause a worse accident and it’s a safe bet that it was well-deserved karma that led her to collide with a police cruiser.
Several people on Twitter chimed in on the topic, mostly taking sarcastic jabs at Rader's expense.
