A Texas man has been arrested for killing his wife and then placing her head in the freezer.

23-year-old David Dauzat reportedly confessed to beheading his 21-year-old wife, Natasha, in their mobile home in Bellmead, Powhatan, Virginia.

Bellmead police were called to a home on Concord Road on reports that a man was assaulting his wife. When they arrived on the site, they found the man had barricaded himself inside his home with two children, aged 1 and 2.

“He was still inside with the children at one point,” said Sgt. Kory Martin, spokesman for Bellmead Police.  “We had a hostage negotiator who made contact with him and as soon as we made contact with him, asked him to come outside, he voluntarily came outside and we were able to get him into custody and we quickly had units run inside that home and secure those children and the crime scene.”

When Dauzat came out, he was drenched in his wife’s blood. As he was being handcuffed, he confessed to the police that he just killed his wife.

Natasha’s mother, Patricia Tagliarino, reported that her daughter had a black eye a few days ago which she blamed on a head-butt from the baby. She also said that Natasha loved both her children very much.

From their Facebook pages, both Dauzat and his wife appeared very happy with their lives. Dauzat’s page showed an album titled, “Our family’s happy Christmas.”

The man is now being held at the McLennan County Jail on half a million dollar bond and charged with one account of murder. His children were unharmed and have been placed in protective custody. Dauzat has yet to enter a plea and it has not been confirmed if he has a lawyer.

The Bellmead police department is still trying to establish the motive for the murder.
