Donald Trump took a completely unexpected turn in his daily insults of Ted Cruz—on Tuesday’s “Fox and Friends,” he offered the conspiratorial notion that Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, was a part of the JFK assassination.
Indirectly citing an article in the National Enquirer, Trump claimed that Cruz’s father was pictured in 1963 with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before Oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy.
“His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald's being — you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump commented.
“What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. They don't even talk about that. That was reported, and nobody talks about it. I mean, what was he doing — what was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death? Before the shooting? It’s horrible.”
Trump’s penchant for making ludicrous claims that somehow stick is not good news for Cruz, who has also been accused of being the Zodiac Killer.
The Texas senator, however, quickly addressed these newest allegations in a press conference, first calling Trump’s comments “nuts…[and] kooky,” and later sarcastically admitting that, “Yes, my dad killed JFK, he is secretly Elvis, and Jimmy Hoffa is buried in his backyard.”
At least Cruz has somewhat of a sense of humor about the situation.
