After all these years, Donald Trump’s New York-based campaign co-chair, Carl Paladino, still believes President Barack Obama is hiding his alleged Muslim identity.
During an interview with the New York Observer, Paladino said, “In the mind of the average American, there is no doubt he is a Muslim. He is not a Christian.”
Arrogantly, he actually thinks he has authority to speak on what goes on in the minds of “average Americans.”
Obama’s international policy throughout his two terms apparently adds credence to Paladino’s argument.
“Look at what he’s done with Iran, what he’s done with the Sunni-Shia thing over in Iraq and Iran, and with ISIS,” he reportedly said.
This conspiracy theory has hung over Obama’s head for the last eight years as Republicans and Tea Party members alike have constantly attempted to sway Americans into believing he has some hidden alliance with Islamic extremists, and therefore cannot be trusted.
Not that his religion should even matter, but Obama has proven on several occasions that he practices Christianity. While he does have Kenyan relatives who are Muslim, he himself is not.
This is simply yet another attempt by the Islamophobic right-wing to slam the president and his policies in an effort to demonize the Democratic Party for backing a so-called Muslim.
Even if Obama was Muslim — which he isn’t — it still wouldn’t validate the unfounded theories surrounding his connection to ISIS or any other terrorist group because those organizations do not represent the entire Muslim population nor do they illustrate Muslim values.
But, it’s clear that GOPers like Paladino and Trump are not huge fans of facts.
