White Woman Vandalizes Mosque, Puts Bacon On Door Handles

“Muslims don't eat pork, so obviously this was an attempt to offend Muslims. Hate crimes against any community won't be tolerated.”

An incident of hate crime took place in Sacramento, California when a white woman shattered windows of Islamic Center of Davis and then placed bacon strips on the exterior door handles. Authorities are investigating the incident which is being treated as a hate crime as Muslims are prohibited from eating pork products.

CCTV footage captured the woman draping strips of uncooked bacon onto the door handles, smashing six windows and slashing the tires of two bicycles. California police are offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the woman.

Basim Elkara, executive director of the Sacramento chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), says, “We ask state law enforcement authorities and the FBI to investigate the apparent bias motive for this vandalism and to bring the perpetrator to justice.”

“The swift apprehension and punishment of those responsible for this act of religious intimidation will send the message that the growing Islamophobia we are witnessing in our nation will not be tolerated or ignored,” he added.

“She broke almost every glass pane on the exterior. She had some type of object and walked around pressing it against the glass and shattering it. Muslims don't eat pork, so obviously this was an attempt to offend Muslims,” he added.

CAIR has launched an online campaign for donations for repairing the mosque. As per reports, damages were estimated between $5,000 and $10,000. So far the campaign has raised $16,767.

However, this is not the first time that Muslims were targeted. CAIR officials say hate crime incidents have increased since Nov. 8 election.

Recently, a 29-year-old California man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a Muslim man leaving a mosque in suburban Los Angeles last month.

Not long ago, at least six mosques across California received threatening letters addressed to "the children of Satan.”
