4-Year-Old & Dad Win Hearts With 'You've Got A Friend In Me' Cover

Claire’s dad got the idea to have her songs recorded after she starting serenading customers at a gas station and they took out their phones to film her.

She may be just 4 years old, but this little girl’s singing can put people “bigger and stronger” than her to shame.

Claire Ryann Crosby belted out the soundtrack “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from Pixar’s “Toy Story” with her father, 28-year-old Dave Crosby, earlier this month, but when her little singing stunt got rave reviews from her fans, her father decided to make a live cover song out of it.

As the song starts, Crosby strums his guitar and sings the first verse. However, in the second verse, little Claire takes up the song and it is immediately clear that she inherited her father’s wonderful voice.

“You've got a friend in me/ You've got a friend in me/ If you've got troubles, I've got 'em too/ There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you/ We stick together and can see it through/ Cause you've got a friend in me,” sings the toddler in her melodious voice.

During the last verse, Claire duets with her father, delivering each note in sync with him. The video was then posted to the pint-sized musician’s YouTube channel, “Claire and the Crosbys,” where it has gotten over 2.6 million likes from fans.

“I just showed this to a friend who has many problems, including alcoholism. He is usually quite a toughy. I told him there is another, more polished version that you did of this, (although I love this too), and he said, emphatically, 'That's polished enough for me!!' His eyes were brimming over with tears,” said YouTube user Ann Macleod.

“Loved it to death. Both of you can sing that is for sure. What about 'America's Got Talent'? What you pair have got there is heaps better than some of the stuff that gets up there,” M Jones said.

Crosby told a local newspaper that he came up with the idea for the video while at a gas station when his daughter began singing to other customers and they pulled out their cell phones to record her rendition.

It seemed Claire is a natural when it comes to music and her father had to give her very little training except to correct a few of her lyrics.

This isn’t the first time Claire has sung a song from a movie. Last January, the then-3-year-old made her music debut with a heartwarming performance of “Part of Your World,” from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”
