Man Launches Basketball Shot From The Top Of A Dam For World Record

Australian trick shot trio turned the Mauvoisin Dam which is one of the 10 highest dams in the world into their personal playground to set the highest basketball shot world record.

Australian YouTuber’s who call themselves "How Ridiculous" have set an impressive world record, after launching a ball from top of Mauvoisin Dam in Switzerland.

The trio traveled all the way from Australia to Switzerland to take this classic free throw shot.

It took the “How Ridiculous” group made up of three members— Brett Stanford, Derek Herron and Scott Gaunson — three attempts to make the final record breaking shot.

“The trick shot stars managed to net a basketball from a staggering height of 180.968 m (593.73 ft) against a stunning backdrop of valleys and water in the Swiss Alps,” confirmed the Guinness World Records.

This isn’t the first time the trio has earned a title; they first earned the title for the highest basketball shot in 2011 when they sank a shot from 219 feet.  They broke their own record twice before another group “Dude Perfect” took over earlier this year.

Dude Perfect made a shot standing on top of a building 533 ft above a basketball hoop.

Both the groups have been battling back and forth since then and this was the “How Ridiculous” crew’s time to set the record for the highest ever basket ball shot.

Derek Herron, who took the record-breaking shot, said, “It was a surreal moment nailing it on the third shot. I watched the ball head towards the rim and saw the net move but still had my doubts that it went in until I saw Scott going crazy."

This did not just happen by chance; the trio has spent years practicing super high shots in a variety of interesting and creative locations.

How Ridiculous

The adventurous “How Ridiculous” stars mention in their video clip that they attempted the stunt “for mankind” and wanted to “inspire others to keep achieving greatness.”
