Barack And Michelle Obama's Anniversary Twitter Exchange Is Everything

"For 26 years, you’ve been an extraordinary partner, someone who can always make me laugh, and my favorite person to see the world with."

The Twitter handle for the President of United States Donald Trump is mostly full of baseless accusations or celebrations for apparent milestones and it has become routine for Americans to go through such strange tweets every day.

In such times, a tweet from former president Barack Obama wishing Michelle on their 26th anniversary was like a breath of fresh air.

Obama posted the sweetest message paying tribute to the love of his life. “Happy Anniversary, Michelle Obama. For 26 years, you’ve been an extraordinary partner, someone who can always make me laugh, and my favorite person to see the world with.”

Michelle responded with another heartfelt message honoring Obama. “Thank you Barack Obama, for 26+ years of love, trust, and respect - for being a man who always lifts up and honors me and our wonderful girls. Each day I’m with you, I’m reminded of what a treasure you truly are to us all,” wrote the former FLOTUS.

The former first couple met in 1989. At that time, both of them were working at the Sidley Austin law firm in Chicago. Michelle was assigned to be Obama’s mentor. A month after both of them met, Obama started asking her out.

Initially, Michelle was hesitant but finally agreed to have lunch with him. Then, two years later, in 1991, Obama asked her to marry him at a dinner where they were celebrating the passing of the former president’s bar exam.

The couple got married on Oct. 3, 1992, at the South Shore Cultural Center.

Naturally, everyone on social media fell in love with this sweet exchange.
