An unlucky British man borrowed his friend's BMW and ended up losing it for six months.
The man parked the BMW in a Manchester City Centre parking lot and went off to enjoy the show, but when he returned, he couldn't remember where he'd left it.
After searching multiple parking lots in vain, the man informed the police — and we assume, the misplaced car's owner — and in August 2016, it was reported lost or stolen.
Finally, after six months, Manchester police have stumbled across the parked car exactly where the driver left it.
We can't imagine what the ticket machine is going to say when they finally put the ticket in - £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££— GMP City Centre (@GMPCityCentre) December 31, 2016
"Officers have found a car in a multi-storey (sic) lost since June; driver visiting city parked it but couldn't remember where," the Greater Manchester Police tweeted.
"We can't imagine what the ticket machine is going to say when they finally put the ticket in."
The officers predict the bill will come out to somewhere around $6,157 after the car's extended stay in the parking lot.
@GMPCityCentre if they had the ticket, surely they would know where they parked it ?— Ricardo (@Rjam33) December 31, 2016

@GMPCityCentre A tad concerning. 6 months!— Phill (@phill_rawlins) December 31, 2016
But at least I know where to hide the evidence next time.
@GMPCityCentre what?!? And no one in the car park noticed before now?!— lifeatnumbernine (@francescah) December 31, 2016
@GMPCityCentre I do wonder about those cars you see covered in dust in car parks. This is why!— Dave Skupski (@daveskupski) December 31, 2016
It may sound ridiculous that somebody could lose a car in a parking lot for such a long time, but the National Car Parks site lists 35 parking lots in the Manchester City Centre area, some of which have multiple levels.
This also isn't the most outrageous example of a car being lost in a parking lot to date.
Back in 2010, a German man lost his car in Munich for two years before finding it in a lot about two and a half miles away from where he thought he had parked it.
We can only hope that the forgetful man's friend wasn't too angry with him — and that whopper of a parking ticket doesn't break their bank. We imagine he'll be a bit more careful about where he parks his car in the future.
