As wildfires continue to ravage Southern California, tales of heroism are coming to light.
One such instance involves a man who was spotted rescuing a wild rabbit from running straight into a field of flames.
Witnesses filmed the moment when a rabbit ran across traffic along a Ventura County highway toward burning brush, and a man stopped his car in the middle of the road to chase after him. His armor was nothing more than athletic shorts and a hooded sweatshirt, but he risked it all to save this defenseless creature.
In the haze of smoke and fire, the man lost track of the rabbit, prompting him to pace back and forth and jump up and down in a fit of what can only be described as fear and anxiety.
Ultimately, he entered the brush to try coaxing the animal out. The rabbit eventually ran out from the flames and right into the arms of the rescuer, who then carried his new furry friend back to his car.
While some may find his deed more crazy than heroic, Twitter was awestruck by the level of compassion he showed for this animal.

...and to humans everywhere!

This dude is the most California there has ever been
faith in humanity restored. faith in my ability to make it one day through 2017 without crying, not so much. look at how he cradles it close to his body to comfort it. this is someone who knows how to care for animals, not just be a hero.— Dana in NYC (@DCSinNYC) December 7, 2017
Forget super powers and capes, all you really need to be a hero is a loving heart.
