Recorded in an unnamed city of China, the video above shows a toddler smack in the tracks of a reversing truck. One cannot imagine anything but doom as the seconds tick on.
However, luckily the child crouched down in time to miraculously avoid being hit by the vehicle, which passed right over him. As it moves on, the kid can be seen safely lying on the ground before getting up and running away.
According to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries are among top 10 causes of death globally and the leading cause of death for people aged 15 to 29. But things are particularly bad in China, where approximately 260,000 people die in road accidents every year.
What is more disturbing than the grim statistics is that when a driver in China accidentally hits a pedestrian, they often run over the victim a few more times to make sure they do not survive!
In many Asian countries, if you injure someone, you have to pay for their care for life. However, if they die you only have to pay once.
