Awkward! Trump Shakes Melania’s Hand Then Pushes Her Off The Stage

The awkward moment between the president and the first lady has once again sparked speculation about the couple’s frosty relationship.

During President Donald Trump’s first foreign trip, videos emerged of first lady Melania Trump swatting away Trump’s hand as he tried to hold hers when they landed at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, Israel.

The incident invited speculations about the state of their relationship.

The couple recently made an appearance at an event at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and landed themselves in yet another awkward moment.

At the event, Melania introduced Trump in a speech. The president, who is standing beside her, then approaches the podium, thanks the first lady and shakes her hand firmly.

He then pushes her off the stage.

“And now, it’s my great pleasure to introduce my husband, President of the United States, Donald Trump,” said Melania while introducing Trump.

This is when the commander-in-chief appears and shakes hands with her.

“Go across the stage,” he said while shaking her hand.

And as he pushed her off the stage, he said, “You go sit down, honey.”

Understandably, people on Twitter were confused about the couple’s awkward exchange.

“By far the most awkward husband/wife encounter I’ve ever witnessed was just now when Trump shook Melania’s hand at the podium. Hug her, dude!” wrote one Twitter user.

While another said, “Nothing says I love you my wife like a firm handshake and false pleasantries.”

Unaffectionate public displays are nothing new for the Trumps and were in fact apparent since the time of Trump’s inauguration.

During the inaugural ceremony, the first lady was seen forcibly smiling at cameras and waving her hand to a crowd of people as her husband took the oath.

A short clip of her smiling cheek to cheek and then immediately frowning as Trump looked away became a popular meme as people speculated about Melania's possible misery in her marriage.
