Alibaba is famous for making and breaking its sales records.
The Chinese e-commerce company is making headlines, yet again, but this time, it’s not about a business milestone.
Jack Ma, Alibaba’s founder, performed an elaborate dance number inspired by Michael Jackson on the company’s 18th birthday.
The event, which took place at the Yellow Dragon Sports Center in Hangzhou, capital city of East China's Zhejiang province, was attended by around 40,000 Alibaba employees from dozens of countries and regions.
Donning a black and gold jacket and a mask on his face, the e-commerce mogul made a dashing entrance on stage in a motorbike. Channeling his inner Michael Jackson he slowly came forward to wave at the audience.
After removing the mask, he invited other people on stage and performed on Jackson’s famous number “Black or White” in an extremely synchronized manner.
This is not the first time Ma has made an unusual appearance at the company’s birthday party. At Alibaba’s 10thbirthday party, he wore a heavy metal wig and sang “The Lion King” theme song to the audience.
Ma has all the right reasons to celebrate the company’s 18th birthday as since the start of 2017, Alibaba’s shares jumped almost 90% in value. The company also reported profits that nearly doubled the same quarter last year.
