A New York man, Chris Garguilo, took his girlfriend by surprise when he appeared in a TV commercial and asked her, “Kourtney Myers, will you marry me?”
Myers was seated right beside Garguilo while he appeared on TV, after which he got down on one knee and opened up a ring box in front of her.
"I was like, 'Why are you on TV when you're sitting right next to me? The commercial was really quick and then he got down on one knee. I was so happy and I was in shock. I didn't know it was coming," 25-year-old Myers told ABC News.
The pair met five years ago while they were attending different colleges in Potsdam, New York. Garguilo, who thought it was the right time to propose to Myers, purchased a ring from Northeastern Fine Jewelers in Schenectady, which was hosting a "Surprise Super Bowl Proposal" lucky draw. The winner would get to propose to their partner by appearing in a Super Bowl TV commercial.
Garguilo became the lucky winner and was told he would have 10 seconds to say whatever he liked to Myers.
"I memorized it. I went to the jewelry store to film. I told everyone watching, 'Finding the one you're supposed to be with is possible,' then told Kourtney that she was the one,” the man recalled.
The ad appeared on TV just before the game’s halftime show, and of course Myers said “yes.”The couple then danced, as their friends watched on.
"He loves the Super Bowl and 'go big or go home' is his motto, so he definitely lives up to that,” Myers said of her now fiancé.
The pair hopes to get married in 2018. Maybe they’ll have a Super Bowl themed wedding?
