Viewer Calls Pregnant TV Anchor 'Disgusting,' Her Response Is Amazing

News anchor Laura Warren responds when an anonymous viewer calls and tells her she looks disgusting while reporting during her pregnancy.

In the world of infuriating news, this will make you want to scream: A pregnant news anchor was called "disgusting" by a viewer who saw her local news segment earlier this month. (Yep, people are horrible.)

Luckily, the reporter kept her head and responded in a way that deserves a standing ovation.

Laura Warren is a news anchor for Augusta, Georgia’s WRDW. In a recent post on her personal blog, Bump, Baby, and Breaking News, Warren talks about the horrible voicemail she received from a viewer.

"Yesterday was a bad work day," she says. "I checked my voicemail (hoping it was a great story tip…) No such luck. Instead, I heard this peach of a woman on the other end."

“Please go to Target and buy some decent maternity clothes so you don’t walk around looking like you got a watermelon strapped under your too-tight outfits. Target’s got a great line of maternity clothes, in case you’ve never heard of such a thing. You’re getting to where you’re being disgusting on the TV.”

What nerve! Warren shared her post on Facebook, where it’s received more than 1,000 reactions, 370 shares, and 775 comments, most of them empathetic and supportive, with fans calling her "gorgeous" and "marvelous."

She goes on to say, "Do I really look disgusting? What outfit is she talking about?"

"Oh crap, am I tearing up at my desk? NOT here. And, NOT over this. This lady doesn't deserve to get a rise out of me," she continues.

Pregnant women are beautiful and powerful. They're literally growing a being in their belly. Clearly, the woman who called was a coward (leaving an anonymous voicemail) and a fat shamer, probably ashamed of her own appearance.

The best part of Warren's blog comes at the end where she writes, "So, I think instead of letting this lady get me down, I'm just going to turn her negative energy into positive energy. I'm going to say as many nice things as I can to as many people as I can, and I'm going to do it in a dress that fits these beautiful new curves with my 'watermelon' stomach showing."

Good for you. What a great attitude. She makes a very valuable point — at the end of the day, we all really need to be just a little kinder to one another.

Warren, unfortunately, isn't the first TV news personality to get criticized for her appearance. In fact, a Philadelphia meteorologist was also called "disgusting" as she continued to appear on air during her pregnancy with twins. Eventually, she spoke out about the relentless bullying through a 2015 post on Facebook.
