This Polish Christmas Ad Has The Internet Collectively Weeping

A touching commercial from Polish auction website Allegro features an elderly gentleman learning the English language for one very special reason.

When it comes to the holidays, it's all too easy to forget about what really matters. We get caught up in the pomp and circumstance of Christmas — decorating, shopping, and party planning, to name a few — and we shift the focus to things that, in the end, aren't even a little important. (Seriously. No one will remember those green and red strobe lights next year.)

One aww-inducing ad from Polish auction website Allegro is sending a gentle reminder to the world about the true value of Christmas: family and relationships. Keep a Kleenex handy; it's rather emotional.

In the ad, an elderly Polish gentleman buys a book on the English language. He works hard to learn it, placing sticky notes on items throughout the house to remind him of the English word. At this point, we're not sure why he's learning it, but it's endearing nonetheless.

After days of English practice, the old man packs his bag, says goodbye to his wife and dog, and heads to the airport. He takes a cab to a house, and inside is his granddaughter, whom he meets for the first time.

You can see the tears glistening in the man's eyes, and that's when we, the viewers, lose it. The ad has millions of views and counting for good reason.

Merry Christmas, all.
